To All of Our Westlock Minor Hockey Families:
The last 8-10 days of hockey have come and gone in the blink of an eye and I would think that it is safe to say that everyone is excited and anxious to see their new teams and Coaches. The last 4 days of player evaluations can be a stressful time for all of our players as we encourage them to work hard, compete and most importantly have fun.
This season we brought forward a new element to our placement process. The time trials are a tool that was brought forward to present our evaluations team with as much information as possible to be able to make their recommendations on our player’s placements. All players will receive their time trial times and there groups average times. I do ask for your patience as we separate this information and get it to your Teams Head Coaches to be given to you. The second part of player evaluations were based on the weekend game play of each player. It was great to watch the players play and compete but more importantly it was fantastic to see the players congratulate each other on a good shift, a great pass or an excellent save made. This is why our kids love the game of hockey. I to understand that the process of evaluations may not be perfect but rest assured that your Board of Directors are continually working hard to be sure that the process is a fair and unbiased one.
In closing I ask that you share in the excitement of a new team, new friends and an excellent hockey season to come with your children. Good Luck to all of our Hockey Families, may the season bring with it both personal and team success as well as many smiles to come!!!!
Sincerely,
Westlock Minor Hockey Vice-President
